How to BEcome a complete leader

|> BUILDING BLOCK #1 > SETTING THE CORNERSTONE

Week 1: Establish Your Course & Guidelines for Your Leadership

Session 1 -  Slides, assignment notes and worksheet  pdf format

Assignment: Create your vision and values for yourself and your team

We'll take those items and turn them into your GPS - "guiding principles statement"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Week 1 - Block #1 Outcomes

- I have clearly defined expectations of myself and others

- the kind of team we'll be and how we're going to work together as we're achieving goals = have thoughtfully consturcted G.P.S. - guiding principles statement

Bonus Assessment:  Personal effectiveness - use of time

|> Building block #2 > confirming A positive working rapport

Week 2:  Ability to Build Followership  & Establish Boundaries

In order to lead effectively, you need the ability to create  positve connections (postive working rapport) so that you can influence the behavior that will produce the results you need. This is called followership.  You also need to establish relational boundaries => what you will and won't accept as co-workers.

You'll be assessing this question: Are the people on my team willing to follow my lead - because of our rapport - not just because it's part of their job?

Part A.  Assignment

a.  Take the "bike wheel" -  assess the quality of your "connections".  Rate mutual trust & respect on a scale of 1-5 (hightest). click here for worksheet

b. Have a conversation with each person to confirm your perception.

c.  Is there anything that needs to be addressed?

d. Where needed, establish agreements & commitments to improve.

Alternate exercise: Ask for input from each person-What can I do better? What's an area of improvement you see?

Part B.  Assignment

Assess each person on the bike wheel

I am clear on their capabilities, aptitude, and level of maturity

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Week 2  - Block #2  Outcomes:

- Relational boundaries, expectations and connections are established and/or improved on a 1 to 1 basis.

- Clear on how to manage - what's needed individually - based on level of maturity.

|> Building Block #3 > Clear on Contribution of each

This is a simple assessment of seeing each team member's contribution - performance through the simple lens of above, at or below needed or expected.

Assignment:

See video for explanation - can be drawn out on a blank sheet of paper.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Week 3 - Block #3 Outcomes:

- be clear on the performance of each team member

- have a plan on how to consistently improve, which includes weekly accountability & tracking.
